In a determined stride towards quality assurance, during the autumn, our team completed a thorough overhaul of our sand silos—just in time to face the winter months with confidence.
The dryness and quality of the sand we use are absolutely critical to our production processes. Any moisture creeping into that sand can affect the integrity and performance of our castings. To safeguard against dampness and rain, we embarked on a full refurbishment of the silos.
The project wasn’t a small feat. We had scaffolding up for about 11 weeks, during which our team tackled the silos with a combination of hand cleaning, abrading, welding, shot blasting, and jet washing to get them back to prime condition.
Once the surface preparation was complete, we applied a high-quality proprietary two-pack epoxy mastic primer followed by a durable, UV-resistant high-performance top coat. This coating combination isn’t just for show; it ensures that our silos are well-protected against the elements, maintaining the dryness of the sand even in harsh weather conditions.
With this investment, we’re not just looking at a fresh coat of paint. We’re ensuring the consistent quality of our production materials through the winter and beyond. This refurbishment underscores our commitment to delivering the highest quality steel castings to our customers.
